The Japanese Gem

Festrex passive multi-tap transformer based attenuator with Finemet core and Teflon interlayer paper is a beautiful piece of Japanese audio art, owned by our friend Mamoru Satou.

The Finemet core has windings that are designed from the ground up to not interfere with the phase, and Teflon is used to absorb and suppress the vibrations of the windings.

Finemet transformers are characterized by the excellent sound quality and the designer firmly believes that they are indispensable for the ultimate music reproduction.

The sonic result comes with less annoying noise, is quieter, and offers a more natural reproduction. The downside is that this approach is almost twice as expensive as the usual variant.
