Earlier this year Thomas Mayer showed a version of his single chassis entry level line preamplifier with the 27 triode. This new tube preamplifier is a variant of this with the 6J5 with almost identical circuit. New tube preamplifier has more or less only unity gain, that should be sufficient in with front end that carries higher output levels. The 6J5 Line Preamplifier comes with 12dB gain at full volume and like with all of Thomas’ preamps uses transformer volume controls. This particular one has Intactaudio units driven by Lundahl line output transformers.
Aesthetic wise this is great combination of maple wood carbon effect blended with gold colors as seen in past few designs.
