Toroidy , the parent company of Fezz Audio, has received substantial funding from the European Union to launch a groundbreaking R&D initiative focused on the development of modern, eco-friendly electron tubes.

This forward-thinking project will address critical advancements in vacuum tube technology, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. The key objectives include:
- Lead-Free Glass: Replacing traditional lead glass with sodium-calcium glass in the tube manufacturing process.
- Sustainable Materials: Developing new technologies for internal support discs used in power tubes (notably 300B triodes) and introducing glass waste recycling methods.
- Eco-Friendly Phosphors: Eliminating cadmium-based phosphors by introducing zinc oxide-based alternatives in 6E5S-type indicator tubes.
- Optimized Cathodes: Reducing barium content in cathode paste, while improving performance and durability under real-world conditions.
Aims and Impact:
The primary goal is to create a new generation of audio-grade vacuum tubes that are:
- Environmentally responsible
- Technologically advanced
- Regionally and nationally pioneering
- These innovations will support the growth of sustainable audio technology while preserving the unique sound qualities that only vacuum tubes can provide.
The project will result in the development of three core products:
- A new rectifier tube
- A new power amplifier tube
- An updated electron tuning indicator
Funding Details:
- Total project value: 3,178,097.64 PLN
- EU contribution: 2,209,280.72 PLN
This initiative marks a significant milestone in Fezz Audio’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation, shaping the future of tube-based audio with an eye on environmental responsibility.
