The RG, SG and MG turntables use precision bearings to articulate the motor housing, keeping it synchronous to the platter and maintaining constant belt tension.
Whilst conventionally mounted motors suffer from unavoidable speed fluctuations, including cogging, this articulated approach decouples the motor’s own vibrations from the belt.
The result is that the belt tension stays constant moment to moment and the platter spins steadily which is crucial in vinyl playback where any speed wobble can show up as pitch instability in the music.
